5 Super Stylish Sneakers for the Summer & Fall

5 Super Stylish Sneakers for the Summer & Fall

Earlier this year, we looked at some fun and stylish accessories for the spring and summer. That piece focused mostly on jewellery and eyewear, which are some of the easiest casual pieces to embrace on a seasonal basis. These days though, more and more women are also looking at sneakers the same way they consider accessories. While they tend to be a little pricier than casual bracelets or sunnies, sneakers are having a little bit of a moment — becoming more stylish than functional, and inspiring some pretty energetic communities of fans along the way.

With this in mind, we thought it would be a good time to highlight some stylish sneakers for the rest of summer and into the fall season.

1. Allbirds Tree Runners

Allbirds has been one of the trendiest brands in the sneaker world for a few years now, and its sustainable tree-based sneakers are arguably its hottest products. These are simple, no-frills shoes that are designed sustainably and made to be comfortable for athletic and casual wear alike. They manage to be incredibly casual without seeming at all cheap or childish (as can be the case with some sneakers) — which ultimately makes them quite versatile. The Allbirds Tree Runners come in a range of colours, and while choosing between them is entirely a matter of personal preference, we love the “Wasatch” — a white-sole option with an almost faded peach primary colour.

2. Adidas NMB R1 (Women’s Exclusive)

The Adidas NMB R1 is a tried-and-true sneaker that’s been around for quite some time now. But the upcoming cloud-inspired women’s exclusive looks like a treat even within the beloved style. It’s a playful, white shoe with blue patterns that looks light as air — fitting for a sneaker that has always been pleasantly light and easy to wear. Mind you, we’d recommend the Adidas NMB R1 in general as well; it’s actually not unlike the Tree Runners in that it’s a cozy, casual shoe fit for athletic wear and casual wear alike. But keep an eye out for the women’s exclusive, because it should be one of the best versions of the NMB R1 yet (and one of the best sneakers of the year).

3. Women’s Air Jordan IX

Air Jordan has produced shoes for women before, but the legendary Jordan IX (okay fine, so most if not every edition is legendary) has not been introduced to the brand’s women’s collection until recently. That alone makes it an intriguing release given the lofty place Jordans still hold in sneaker culture. These shoes will feature a “Change the World” message on the heel, and will come in a variety of colour styles — most of which we likely haven’t seen yet. The earliest glimpses of the shoes are bursting with colour however. Both feature white and navy bases, with one augmented by purple and pale gold and the other featuring various shades of orange and pink.

4. Chloé Lauren Trainers

This pick represents quite a leap in price and style from the previous three. But it’s such a unique and intriguing sneaker we have to include it. The new Chloé Lauren Trainers are built like fairly ordinary, casual low-top sneakers, but styled almost as if to look like lace. The brand logo and embroidery-like design are presented in beige-on-white, with the total effect almost being vaguely gold. Again, there’s a big leap in price where these shoes are concerned (they’re about $500). But if you’re interested in luxury sneakers you can dress down or up as you like, they’re worth a look.

5. Converse Chuck Taylors

Lastly, we have to highlight the classics. Converse Chuck Taylors are timeless, stylish, comfortable, and affordable. They also had a little bit of a moment this year when they were sported by the vice president of the United States! Whatever your political persuasion may be, it’s pretty cool for one of the most powerful office holders in the world to rock Chucks in public. Beyond their indelible quality and recent publicity though, what we love about Chucks is just how versatile they are. You can get them in a variety of styles at any given time, and they’re also among the most frequently customised sneakers we know of. Our current pick? The mesh “We Miss Festivals” style featured on Converse’s site.
